The
art of signwriting has been in the Connor family for well over a
century, the earliest documented evidence being the marriage certificate
of John Charles Connor (the current generations Great Grandfather)
dated 1883 which states his
rank or profession as ticket writer. At the birth of his son Walter
Connor in 1901 the birth certificate shows the occupation of the
father as Master Sign Writer (a position according to his marriage
certificate in 1923, Walter had achieved by the age of 22) Always
a family business, now owned by the fourth generation, it was originally
concerned with the manufacture of hand painted wooden signs and
hand written posters. Now in addition to these traditional skills
the business has expanded in recent years to offer computer cut
vinyls and both digital and screen printing.
